We have about 500 students and 42 teachers in our school here in Nummela in southern Finland. Our students are 15- 19 years old. We have many extra courses for students to choose from, for example applied courses in arts, biology , sports etc. In our school students can learn, English, Swedish, French, German, Spanish and Russian as foreign languages. We want to take care of our traditions but still we are innovative and always looking for good practices. We have been internationally active and have solide cooperation with schools in France, Germany and Spain , student exchanges every second year with them etc. We have taken part in many Comenius projects, and we have often coordinated them. We have also had two Erasmus+KA1 projects . Now we are taking part in three Erasmus+ KA2 projects and coordinating one of them. Furthermore our students have taken part in various competitions and projects, both national and international. For example the successful participation in entrepreneurship programs. One of our students’ companies was chosen as the best Company of Uusimaa region and two companies have been awarded internationally ( Tallinn Tradefair 2017 ) . And one of our teachers as the Finnish teacher of the year in entrepreneurship spring 2019. Our school has twice taken part to LAB Day at CERN. Our school is keen on organizing a lot of different national and international activities for our students. We have a lot of experienced teachers connected with active participation in international partnership. Students and teachers are eager to learn and ready to face new challenges. This kind of international Erasmus projects is a very effective possibility for ex. to use and test foreign languages and IT skills, to encourage the students to use their skills, fight against stereotypes, get new ideas and experiences, enlarge their world. Our staff is working with new IT devices and they also teach other teachers in other schools in our region. We can bring an added value to the project in matters of creating digital learning materials which might be helpful to support students’ digital competences. We can give also our northern aspect to the project beeing one of the Scandinavian countries. The results arisen from this project can be edited and spread by means of new technology. The key person in our school is our coordinator in international affairs, teacher of French and German. She has coordinated all our previous projects. There is also a team of teachers to help her. If the teachers who are in charge of this project leave their post , there are other teachers who can take over. Every teacher in our school is willing to share his/her knowledge when needed.
