22th February

It was our first day in Latvia. Most of the day was taken up by travelling. We started by flying from Katowice to Warsaw. After a short wait at Chopin Airport, we took our second flight, this time to the Lithuanian capital city of Vilnius. The last part was by bus to Daugavpils to our host families.

23th of February

On the 2nd day of our trip we watched a live classical music performance of Latvian students. Then, we had get-together activities and dinner in a local restaurant. After that, we got to see the theatre from behind the scenes and explored the city on our own.

24th of January
On the third day of the program, we were busy preparing for our performance. Afterwards, we went to a local restaurant for lunch. Then, we visited the bread museum where we were able to learn how bread is made from scratch and were treated to local products such as cake, honey. Later we visited an exhibition of custom motorcycles and things made of scrap metal. We spent the rest of the day integrating with the group.

 25th February

We started our activities at 9 o’clock. At the beginning we were preparing the final performance. Then, we had lunch in a restaurant and went to Mark Rothko Art Center. The next activity was  Daugavpils Fortress sightseeing. Then, we took part in emotional and body language workshop and students‘ concert. The last activity was a prom, where we were dancing together. At the end of the day a big part of our group went iceskating to an ice rink.

 26th of February

 This day wasn’t really ordinary.

The day started with talking to our international friends about making the final performance. It wasn’t easy but we made a great job together! We also had a lot of fun!

In the meantime, each country prepared some of their national snacks shared them!

Some time later, we were ready for our final performance and we did just great!

Soon after that, we danced Belgian and some other dances with our friends from Latvia and other countries as well! That was a lot of fun!

After that we got some lunch and went to a coffee shop. Took a nice selfie there, haha!

Shortly after, we went to see a beautiful view from this one big hotel in Dauvgapills! I mean, just look at that!

Then we went to make some candles. It was surely challenging and required a lot of patience but we did it! Just look how cool we are!

That was the end of the activities for that day, so we went with our German friends to eat some pizza and called it a day!

 27th of January

OH MY GOD, RIGA! After spending so much time with our host familie, we finally had to say bye. All of us cried, of course, but soon we forgot about it because we were yet to experience Riga.

We went to the restaurant to eat some DELICIOUS food.

Got our diplomas in the National Library, also saw THIS amazing view.

We also went sightseeing in Riga.

The also told us the story about this cat (to be added).

 We were literally freezing here!

 We also got some souvenirs!

Then we went to the hotel we were supposed to sleep in.

BUT WE DID NOT.

First, we went bowling together, it was a lot of fun! We had really got close to each other, yet it was our final day so we had to make the most of it!

After that, we had to get back to the hotel. It was time to say goodbye! We were really,  really sad, but that was  part of the project, so it couldn’t be helped.

We went across this beautiful river in Riga.

Seeing beautiful architecture for the last time, we said goodbyes to most of our friends for the last time. In the hotel, we exchanged last words with some of them during the night.

28th of January

So, the final day. We packed our luggage and set out to the airport, bidding farewell to some of our friends and crying. At the airport,we found our Finnish friends, so we had 40 more minutes to talk to each other and YES WE MADE THE BEST OF IT. Unfortunately, we forgot to take some last pictures, but that’s probably because we had a lot of fun. However, good things come to an end fast. The entire week felt like a moment and all of us want to get back to the beautiful city of Daugavpils and see Riga again. But most importantly, get back to the amazing atmosphere and amazing memories we made with our international friends during this Erasmus project.

Here are the last goodbye pictures we took in Poland:
